Sam’s Club Sweepstakes

CLIENT
An American membership-only retail warehouse club, Sam’s Club has supplied bulk items for American families for over 40 years. Currently owned and operated by Walmart, Sam’s Club is one of the top 10 largest retailers in the US, heavily influencing consumer purchases and trends across the nation.

TASK
Eager to appeal to a younger, entrepreneurial audience and boost membership revenue, Sam’s Club wanted to create an engaging sweepstakes competition that would entice small business owners to sign up for an account. By partnering with growing businesses Sam’s Club’s would be able to improve their brand awareness as well as build loyal, stable relationships with new customer segments.

SOLUTION
Sponsoring the Open for Business Competition, Sam’s Club offered a $1,500 gift card for any small business owner that created a membership account. With the use of social media shares and engaging content, 5 Line Designs developed and designed the sweepstakes page as well as the additional graphics for all social media channels. Driving customers to an informative business tips listicle prior to sign up delivered value and encouraged more to join the contest. This uptick in engagement led to a 37% increase in membership signup rate during the sweepstakes run. Encouraging the customer to share with their friends and increase their chances of winning, the conversion rate surpassed expectations and encouraged Sam’s Club to further their efforts by granting The Association for Enterprise Opportunity with $2.7 million.
